PDFCreator as MSI setup

We know that having a MSI setup is vital for many people out there having to install PDFCreator on a large number of machines. For all of you there are good news, as we are doing quite some progress with the MSI development. After having some problems with our installer package (InstallAware), we now get quite used to it and found ways to bypass its limitations.

Of course it is hard to tell when exactly the MSI will be ready, but I am confident that this will happen soon. If thing go well, it could be that we have a first version ready for testing in January.

And of course after all, we want to thank anyone who has donated for the MSI support. This helped us buying the installer and we hope to serve you with a MSI package really soon.

MSI setup is very indispensable for the PDF creator. I'm luckily got the review and found here awesome stuffs in this topic. All their requirements would be impressive and educative for me so far though. Mates all suggest me to install MSI setup and support to work fast with high speed. Otherwise throw me in 24 hr emergency. Thanks!

It may be too late but I just ran along your post asking for volunteers to help with the MSI. If you are still looking for one please feel free to contact me as well! My "day job" includes packaging applications for Windows deployments so I hope to be able to offer some help...

For create of MSI packages use open-source Microsoft Windows Installer XML (WiX).

Yes, we have, but the InstallAware Setup does not take them, as they wrap the MSI with their own Engine and then put it into an MSI again.

We will surely keep you up to date on this.

We have a version ready that does install PDFCreator properly, but we have run into an unexpected problem. The installer engine we are using (InstallAware) relies on the ability to have command line parameters. As we have seen, there is no command line parameter option in the Active Directory. So we are looking for alternatives there and hope that we will not have to rewrite the whole setup with another tool...
